Once (A Wish)

For once,

let my wish be true.
It’s not a big wish,
A simple one,
That’s all I’ve made.
From New Year’s
to birthdays…
One wish
every special occasion.
And I’m still here,
looking up on the heavens.
Twinkle, twinkle little star,
tell me, are you even for real?
One falling star,
I dare a wish,
Closing my eyes,
as if in deep contemplation.
“Let it be true, I say.”
Opening my eyes,
I peek,
The sky doesn’t betray.
If falling stars
make wishes come true,
Then maybe it wasn’t
the star I was to wish upon.
But for once.
Let it be.
Just this once.
And I will believe,
that the universe conspires

and make wishes real.

Rain On My Parade

I wished,
No I think I hoped.
That the rays of the sun,
will find its away among the nimbus,
Which embraced the earth
With its somber.

The wind was not strong enough
To blow away the impending doom,
Of rain fall, down under.
Where my parade is held.
A spectacle to be reveled.
But a heavy down pour.
That is all that it takes.
And I was ruined.

Mirror (Maybe)

If the world was my mirror,
Then I might see something I don’t like.
Maybe it is true,
Maybe it is not.
Because mirrors lie.
We see the reflection we wanted to see,
We might see the bad, but choose to ignore it.
We might see the good and be skeptical about it.
But that is just how things are.
If the mirror tells me I’m ugly I might believe it,
If it tells otherwise then who am I to complain?

In essence, you are my reflection and I am yours.
I accept that I have flaws that I failed to notice,
But were magnified in your own judging eyes.
I understand that I maybe blindside to this part of me,
But maybe we could appreciate each other even a little,
Perhaps we could be better people and meet halfway.
Let us stop drawing the lines,
Erase those irrelevant pre-conceived notions,
I am in no way a definition of your character,
Nor do you define mine.
What you see is the icing on top.

Do not be a fool in thinking,
You may play a part in my Johari window,
But do not be smug.
You do not know me,
As much as I do not know myself.
I am my own mystery,
Stop your detective story of what I am not.

Superwoman

Superwoman

Behind the red cape, the black mask and the impenetrable armor,
There stood a hero feigning courage and strength.
As the cape drape her back,
She prepared to take the flight.

Clad in her usual ‘I-am-a-superhero’ attire,
She battles deadly voltures,
One by one, she stomped her feet on them
And trample the monsters into dark abyss.

Once in a while she gets wounded in a fight,
She bleeds like an ordinary person,
Oh, how she was scared that she was not strong!
But she heals fast like she was never hurt at all.

That is the reason why I wonder,
When one day I saw the superhero crumple,
Her cape, torn;
Her face unmasked;
Her armor, broken.

I asked her what happened,
And she answered: “Nothing. Nothing is wrong.”
I believed her because I know,
Superheroes are invincible.

But it’s all superficial.

My Cloud-filled Sky

I tried defying gravity.
But gravity was so strong
I was pulled back.
And I hit the ground.

It was another reality check,
But I’m not holding back,
I’m doing it again.
I will fly.

I was trying to fly
to save myself
and leave everything behind.
In the end, I hurt more.

But the exhilarating feeling of being free
was so addictive,
And despite being broken from the fall,
I won’t mind taking the plunge once more.

Into the pool side,

NIMBUS

I’m tired.
Of waiting.
If it comes,
Then let it be.

And sometimes;
Just sometimes,
Even so, I can’t help waiting some more,
Knowing it’ll leave me bleeding behind.

A masochistic habit,
Let my heart break,
I suffer in my self-imposed
Yet painful indulgence.

So I let myself float.
Aimless.
Because I’m tired.
Because I’m confused.

And it scares me.
